As you have seen in Read with Me... we try to have our kids read at an instructional or independent level and readjust if the book is too hard.

This is a great article that explains why it is so important to have them reading the correct level, as well as how to determine if it is a just right book.

For the most part, with 1st and 2nd grade, we have this dialed in.  There is a link below that goes into more detail about decodable text which is what our new books provide.

Since 3rd and 4th graders are bringing in the book of their choice, it is important for me to know if you feel they are reading books that are too hard. The second link below will take you to the article about Just Right Books and appropriate levels.

Thanks for all your feedback about the kids and leaning into your own intuition on their reading levels and when you feel the books they have brought are not what is best for them!  You all are amazing and our kids are so lucky to have you here!
